at the Island Records Office in Jamaica
(All
prices are quoted in U.S. dollars)
DESCRIPTION:
Wayne Burnside, a highly
experienced researcher in Jamaica continues to offer research for DEEDS & WILLS at the "Island Records Office" in
Jamaica. However since requests for research have tended to be
unique for each client we have opted for a 'pricing' structure which will be
based on the particular requirements of each request. The procedure will
be to email Mr. Burnside with your request and request a price quote for the
work: be sure to include the 'surname' you would like researched, the 'documents'
to be included in the search and the 'years' to be checked. Please be assured
that your email will be handled in an expeditious manner.
1) DEEDS - INDEX TO 'GRANTORS'
2) DEEDS - INDEX TO 'GRANTEES'
3) WILLS - 'R.M.' (or lower court) INDEXES
4) WILLS - SUPREME COURT INDEXES
(SEE DOCUMENT DESCRIPTIONS BELOW).
Please read the document descriptions below and
use the following email address to place a research price quote from Mr.
Burnside:
1) DEEDS - INDEX TO
'GRANTORS": This index begins circa 1664
and runs through the 1870's. The 'grantor' is the person who sold or transferred the
property. The index covers the entire island of Jamaica and is not for a particular
Parish. Much information can be gleaned from the original deed which will often
contain 'property names', names of 'family members', etc. The only way to ascertain
the 'contents' of a particular deed is to order a "xerox" copy of same as
described above.
2) DEEDS - INDEX TO 'GRANTEES": This index begins circa 1664 and runs through the
1870's. The 'grantee' is the person who bought or received the property. The
index covers the entire island of Jamaica and is not for a particular Parish. Much
information can be gleaned from the original deed which will often contain 'property names
& diagrams', names of 'family members', etc. The only way to ascertain the
'contents' of a particular deed is to order a "xerox" copy of same as described
above.
3) WILLS - 'R.M.' (or lower court) INDEXES: This index begins circa 1661, runs through the 1890's and
covers Wills probated in the lower courts in Jamaica. The index covers the entire
island of Jamaica and is not for a particular Parish. Much information can be
gleaned from the original 'will': especially the 'names' of relatives of the
deceased, and a host of other information. The only way to ascertain the 'contents'
of a particular Will is to order a "xerox" copy of same as described above.
4)WILLS - SUPREME COURT INDEXES: This index begins circa 1661, runs through the 1890's and
covers Wills probated in the 'high court' of Jamaica. Most Jamaican wills were
'R.M.' or 'lower court' wills, however there are significant numbers of Supreme Court
Wills. The index covers the entire island of Jamaica and is not for a particular
Parish. Much information can be gleaned from the original 'will': especially
the 'names' of relatives of the deceased, and a host of other information. The only
way to ascertain the 'contents' of a particular Will is to order a "xerox" copy
of same as described above.
